Community Relations Group

The Community Relations Group (CRG) is a team comprised of members of the OPP, Canadian Forces, RCMP and other law enforcement and partners. The CRG helps build and maintain fruitful relationships between the community and the security environment. The CRG is crucial in ensuring that the community's views are considered in the security efforts.

The CRG members are committed to contributing to a safe and secure G8 Summit through ongoing consultation with our communities.

We value the views and concerns of all people and organizations affected by hosting the G8 Summit. We encourage citizens, businesses, organizations and activist groups to become involved in the consultation and information process. Your involvement is the foundation of a successful event.

Security for the Community

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Canadian Forces (CF), and other law enforcement partners are working closely with the Summit Management Office (SMO) and community leaders in the Muskoka/Huntsville area, to ensure that proper security will be in place for the Summit.

Law enforcement partners are committed to ensuring that the Summit is a successful event with minimal disruption and that business owners and employees will be able to access their place of business during the event.

Environment

Protection of property, environment and people were taken into consideration planning security for the G8 Summit while supporting green strategies and protocols.

Summit organizers acknowledge that the Muskoka Region is a recreational area with a delicate environment that must be protected.
